Purpose

Tag AdGroup if CPA performance is abnormally high within Campaign

To Elaborate

This Python script identifies AdGroups within a Campaign that have a Cost Per Conversion (CPA) performance that is significantly higher than the average CPA for the Campaign. It then tags these AdGroups as outliers.

Walking Through the Code

  1. The script defines column constants and initializes an output dataframe.
  2. The input dataframe is prepared by filtering the data based on a 30-day lookback period, excluding the most recent 3 days.
  3. The relevant columns are selected and the metrics are summed across dates.
  4. Rows without cost or conversions are removed.
  5. The dataframe is indexed by account and campaign, and sorted.
  6. Features such as Cost Per Conversion (CPA), Return on Ad Spend (ROAS), Conversion Rate, and Average Cost Per Click (CPC) are calculated.
  7. The script defines functions to find anomalies using the Interquartile Range (IRQ) method.
  8. Another function is defined to find peer anomalies within a campaign.
  9. The script prints the input shape of the dataframe.
  10. An empty dataframe is created to store the anomalies.
  11. For each unique campaign, the script creates a subset dataframe and calculates the median CPA for the campaign.
  12. The find_peer_anomaly function is called to find outliers in the subset dataframe based on the CPA metric.
  13. If outliers are found, the relevant rows are added to the anomalies dataframe.
  14. The script prepares the output dataframe by selecting the relevant columns from the anomalies dataframe.
